Understanding Internal Martial Arts

Standing on the dock by the sea… I understood finally why Taoist Tai Chi is called one of the Internal Martial Arts. Once an individual has been practicing long enough, the movements become ingrained inside the cells of the individual. I can recall all of the moves of a class without active memory of the brain. It is the body that intuitively remembers.

Health Recovery Has No EGO!

dharma-festival

While attending the Canadian Dharma Festival, I found myself sitting (nearly) alone in the café listening to the teaching on screen instead of in the temple. In this (safe) space, I found myself working through some Tai Chi moves from Taoist Tai Chi’s health recovery class. It bothered me not that several people wandered in and out, occasionally glancing at me with curiosity until… one of the other women was doing the exact same moves! We spoke and briefly connected. Putting aside the ego, it is amazing what can happen!
